North and S. Korean troops exchange fire along border
SEOUL: South Korean military has claimed that there had been
an exchange of fire along the North border.
This happens to be first such incident since the rivals took
unprecedented steps to lower front-line animosities. According to details the
skirmish did not cause any known casualties on either side and is unlikely to
escalate.
Joint Chiefs of Staff here stated when N. Korean troops fired
several bullets at a S. Korean guard post inside the border zone. Military said
that South Korea suffered no casualties. Defense officials said it’s unlikely
for N. Korea to have any casualties either as the S. Korean warning shots were
fired at uninhibited N. Korean territory. T
Interestingly, farming activities around the N. Korean area
where the firing occurred continued throughout today. N. Korean military didn’t
display any other suspicious activities after the gunfire. It is pertinent to
mention here that there was a thick fog in the area at the time of the
incident. Later today, It may be noted that there had been a rumor that N.
Korean leader Kim Jong Un died or went to isolation in order to beat the virus.
However, after a 20-day absence he appeared yesterday to attend Friday’s
ceremony marking the completion of a fertilizer factory near Pyongyang
along with senior officials.
It was Ji Seong-ho, a defector of communist republic, based
in S. Korea, who had proclaimed the death of Kim Jong Un saying he died
last weekend.
Claiming that he had been informed that Kim died last
weekend, Ji-Seong-ho, said he had wondered how long Kim could have endured
after cardiovascular surgery.
Ji Seong-ho, who bolted from North Korea in 2006, managed to
win a proportional representation seat of a minor party in 15th April polls in
the South.
It has also been insinuated that Kim disappeared to avoid the
mysterious respiratory disease caused by Coronavirus. However, savants are
aware that Kim’s prolonged absence from public scene is nothing new.
