Skype copies most loved feature of Zoom, launches it for Android, iOS, and PC

SILICON VALLEY: Skype seems to be in a great competition with Zoom, another video calling app that allows its users to have multiple conversations and business meetings online. Recently, Zoom gained prominence after the companies shut down due to the lockdown situation amid coronavirus pandemic. Many organizations tend to hold their meetings through the app.

Knowing this, Skype thought it was a great chance to regain its popularity among the users and become people’s choice once again. It tried to divert people’s attention from Zoom and still wants users to use its calling software instead of Zoom. For this, it has also added a new feature, namely Meet Now, taking a chance to attract more users.

In a statement, Skype says that the new feature is a “hassle-free way to connect” with friends and colleagues.
“With this, users will not require signing up to any account or downloading any software,” says the company.

The feature is available for Android, iOS, and PCs.

Skype wants to beat Zoom to become preferred and most used video calling app, with no complications for users. In a tweet, Skype told the users that video calling was never so complicated when people used its feature.

“Easy video meetings with no sign ups or downloads. Generate your free unique link with one click, share it with participants and enjoy unlimited meetings with Skype. Full set of features at your disposal. Your meeting link doesn’t expire and can be used anytime. Host a conference call with just one link,” Skype said in a post.

It also created a button that gives user the option to create a free meeting and enjoy video calling conversations with other fellows.
On the other side, the newly introduced Zoom app requires a meeting host to have an account, as well as the app to start a call.
It is also being reported that due to Zoom’s steep growth and popularity,

Cybercriminals are using this as an opportunity to further their ulterior motives by registering new fake “Zoom” domains and malicious “Zoom” executable files in an attempt to trick people into downloading malware on their devices.
