Pakistan may reach coronavirus peak in June
ISLAMABAD: It might be too early to ease lockdown
restrictions in the country as the Novel Coronavirus spread could witness peak
in June and might be a disaster, said Special Assistant to the Prime Minister
on Health Dr Zafar Mirza.
“According to the reports we are getting, the new [corona]
virus is likely to persist till June in Pakistan while Europe and America are
likely to control the pandemic till May,” he said during a press briefing.
The SAPM further said that National Disaster Management
Authority (NDMA) was directly sending all Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs)
to the hospitals across Pakistan.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health, Dr.
Zafar Mirza while talking to journalists here about the mysterious Coronavirus
stated that government was aware of the state-of-affairs and was taking
measures accordingly.
According to Dr.
Zafar Mirza seasonal flue and fever does not require testing for
Coronavirus and only those people need to have tests who have recently returned
from abroad and are facing symptoms like fever, cough or difficulty in
breathing.
Warning people to beware of fake private testing laboratories
Dr. Zafar Mirza informed that fourteen labs in major cities of Pakistan had
been provided with diagnostic kits by the government that would hold free
tests.
Pointing towards the little number of patients in Pakistan
he said that there was no need to panic.
