FM says all 60K Pakistanis stranded abroad will be back before Eid
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while
addressing the US-based Pakistanis today, by means of video link has informed
that 7000 Pakistanis stranded abroad will be brought back per week.
While informing that so far 10,000 Pakistanis had been
brought back home, the FM claimed at this rate all the 60,000 registered
Pakistanis would be brought back before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi claimed that the government has taken
initiatives to protect the poor segments of the society and support the economy
at this difficult juncture. He maintained that the support for the Prime
Minister’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 was encouraging.
Lauding the Pakistani community in US the FM said that had
played a very vibrant role in giving donations generously.

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while
talking to SAPM on National Security Dr. Moeed Yusuf here on Tuesday (21st of
April, 2020) stated that the third phase of repatriation of Pakistanis stranded
abroad due to COVID-19 crisis.
During this phase five thousand Pakistanis will be brought
back every week: “Our capacity will increase in cooperation with the
provinces and will help bring back maximum number of Pakistanis back to the
country,” the FM added.
He said testing and quarantine facilities at airports across
the country have been significantly increased in order to contain the
COVID-19: “We are trying to control the local spread of Coronavirus as
well as taking steps to cope with the economic impacts of this pandemic.”
40,000 Pakistanis stranded abroad to be brought back

ISLAMABAD: FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi has informed here today
that the next phase of repatriating overseas Pakistanis will commence from
tomorrow (Tuesday 14th of April, 2020).
While speaking at the meeting of the Special Committee of the
Parliament on coronavirus he told that 40,000 Pakistanis were waiting for their
repatriation who would be brought back by means of nine special flights.
It is pertinent to mention here that a huge number of
Pakistanis working at UAE had been shown the door due to virus crisis.
Pakistani citizens, including students, stuck in US and Canada are to be
flown back too.
Committee was also informed that 14 Pakistani citizens were
stranded in Nepal and 4 were in Maldives. Moreover, 2,248 Pakistanis
belonging to Tableeghi Jamaat are waiting to be flown to Pakistan
from Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan.
So far 1,640 Pakistanis have been repatriated through 12
special flights.
Stranded Pakistanis to be brought back phase-wise

ISLAMABAD: FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi, chairing a meeting
held here today, stated that the Crisis Management Cell established at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant contact with Pakistan diplomatic
mission the world-over.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi told that government gave top priority
to phase-wise repatriation of Pakistani nationals stranded at various
airports. FM claimed that the government was utilizing all available
resources to ensure medical facilities, including quarantine Centers, at the
airports.
It is pertinent to mention here that the proposals presented
during the meeting would be pondered over at the next meeting of the National
Coordination Committee on Coronavirus.
