Asif Raza Mir to star in international series Gangs of London
KARACHI/LONDON: Veteran Pakistani actor Asif Raza Mir will
soon appear in a British-American action television series Gangs of London as
a Pakistani gang leader.
According to reports, the actor will be part of the cast of
upcoming series in which he’ll be seen in the role of Asif Afridi, a gang
leader engaged in the fight to run the city.
The series is created and directed by UK-based Gareth Evans
and produced by Lucas Ochoa. The trailer for the Sky Atlantic original series,
based on ten episodes, was released in March.
Many of us might not know that Fawad was not the first choice
for Bollywood movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The makers had approached Mikaal
Zulfiqar for the role at first.
Mikaal, who is a renowned model, TV and film actor, revealed
this in an interview on a show at a private channel. He said that he was
offered the role by the producer of the movie. The actor further revealed that
he even auditioned for the role.
“I got the offer to work in the movie [Ae Dil Hai Mushkil]. I
came to now that Fawad Khan has also auditioned for the role. Anyway, I decided
to give the audition, though I was not much interested.
When asked by the host about not being interested, Mikaal
said:
“It was a small appearance. When it comes to casting a
Pakistani actor, they [Indian filmmakers] always give side roles to us as if we
are some extra characters for them.”
The actor said that he only wanted to take the role because
the movie had Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan whom he admires the most.
“The only thing on my mind was her [Aishwarya Rai]. I was
thinking I would get a chance to work with her. She is a great actor. I always
wanted to work with her, but not as a side character. IF I get any offer for
the lead role, I will go for it,” he said.
